MUSEOS DE LA SEDA / SILK MUSEUMS

EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES One of the main priorities of the museum is to cooperate with schools in Georgia. The museum offers several educational programs and practical workshops for schoolchildren. There are different programs for different age groups, related to the various collections of the Silk Museum. For example, one of the educational programs called “4 Lives” teaches schoolchildren about the biology of a silkworm and includes practical workshops. This program also connects to the section in the 4 th grade school curriculum and it is particularly popular during springtime, as the museum has an annual program of live silkworms - a number of live silkworms are kept at the museum and it is very interesting for every segment of visitors to view them. During 2014 –2016, a summer school with various themes was also organized for children at the museum. Special guests with different artistic and creative backgrounds were invit- ed to make presentations and workshops. Apart from school educational programs, the State Silk Museum also organizes programs and workshops for adults that find connection with its various themes. Some of the ex- amples include: - Maintain the Brilliance - educational and social program for adults in theory and practice of sericulture, supported by DVV International (2015). 131
