Some of collection highlights include: - Unique collection of silk cocoons (up to 5 000 different species and varieties). The cocoon collection is distinguished with the diversity of species across the world natural history and silk museums. Apart from the silkworm cocoons, col- lection preserves samples of cocoons from wild species of silkworms. - Collection of unique German silk laces, including one of the earliest samples of fine machine made Leavers laces with various ornamental motifs and some earlier examples of handmade laces. The lace collection was produced in Rosa Klauber manufacture, now functioning in New York, USA since WWII. - The 19 th century photo collection by Konstantin Zanis – the original copies of his photos depicting sericulture are kept only in the State Silk Museum. The col- lection has an outstanding cultural and historical significance. The pictures were taken during expeditions around the Caucasus region in 1890-1901. They depict the process of silk production, ethnography, portraits, natural environment and architectural heritage. 129
